Layer Cake

Cutting Cake Book by " Creekside Stitches"
Layer Cake Lap Quilt

Good Friday Everyone,

Just thought you might like to see this latest quilt I made for the shop using:
1 Layer cake
Binding and Backing

Its that easy ....the cutting and sewing go fast
and
wouldn't this make a great gift!

I used Moda's layer cake " Ladies Album"
I do believe this quilt would look good in any fabric .
Watch for more to come.

New Groups

Happy Monday Everyone,

For those of you that do not know me, let me tell you a little about myself.
I reside and own a Quilt Shop in a tiny town in Upstate New York. I love all things primitive including rug hooking, needle punch, wool applique, stitchery and quilts.
My shop keeps me busy with the day to day business, but I like to find time to do some of the other things that I love which include all of the above.
So I have decided to join a couple of online groups to keep me inspired and motivated . I have followed Lori of Notforgotten Farms for a while now and she is one busy lady. She recently started a rug hooking group called "The Out of Hand Rug Hookers" and has invited me to join. Yippee!
I also joined a stitchery group called " Prim Stitchers Society" that has captured my heart.
I will be posting some of my projects along the way.....you never know what they will be.
For my quilting friends, I have not forgotten about my love for traditional, primitive and civil war quilts. After all, I am still a quilt shop with a lot of fabric and a lot of wool!
And lets not forget about my two furry girls ( my M&M girls) Molly and Mia  they will appear from time to time.
So lets get started....
Although I am not much of a rug hooker yet, I am having fun with this pumpkin pattern from " The Old Tattered Flag" called ...Jack O with a Crow. He just called to me and I love him. I have been hooking him in my spare time and he probably wont be done anytime soon, so hang in there with me.
I would love your comments and feedback and any tips for this  newbie hooker, but for now I am flying by the seat of my pants.

                                                                Sweet Mia
                                                                     Sassy Molly

                                                                HAPPY HOOKING,

                                                                            Peg

NYS Row by Row...FREE Quilt pattern

Hello Blogging Friends,

I know that it has been a while since my last post, but there just aren't enough hours in the day!
And to be honest........do that many people look at my postings?  I know that my facebook page gets a lot of interest and I wonder should I just concentrate on that? As a shop owner I am pulled in so many directions that my head spins and I am getting dizzy (Ha!).
But I wanted to show you all my Row by Row project for this year and hope that everyone likes it.
The theme for this year is Sew a Season and I choose fall because I love the beautiful colors of autumn.
Remember when you visit the shop anytime between July 1st and Sept 2nd you get the pattern for FREE!  If you like our colors, we will have fabric kits for you to purchase and make it so much easier for you because the choices have been made. We also have ordered the fabric plates that are being collected at many of the shops and our reads.." Spool-N-Around" after our row.
Hope to see you this summer

Tumbling Block Quilt

TUMBLING BLOCK QUILT

I love the tumbling block....
but
cant deal with the labor intense way of making this block.
So, I found an easy way of making the tumbling blocks in a lot less time....
using the strip piecing method.
This quilt that I am working on is small in size.
I have decided to make it little and sweet!
The blocks are made using lots of scraps and a neutral fabric
for the background.......not sure of the finished size yet
but
I will post a pic of the finished quilt soon!
I think this will be one of my favorites and a keeper!
What do you think?
Do you also love this old and traditional quilt block pattern?

HAPPY STITCHING,
Peg

A Little Sewing Time

Small Pincushions

I Love making pincushions, they make me happy!
I use hand dyed and textured wools, scraps of fabrics, selvages ,buttons and findings.
The strawberry is made from hand dyed wool, Valdani floss
and filled with crushed walnut shells ( one of my favorites)
The heart and 4 patch is made from scraps of leftovers
and
a selvage from a Marcus Brothers fabric..
Sweet little pincushions.....you can never have to many

HAPPY STITCHING,

Cinnamon Rolls

JANUARY 1st, 2014

"WELCOME"

Today I decided to do one of the things on my bucket list...
Homemade Cinnamon Rolls
Yep...that's right!
Years ago I used to make cinnamon rolls for the family
but, it has been a long time
and
I have been longing for the smell and taste of a homemade
cinnamon roll!
So, today is the day and I am hoping for the best.
They look good and smell good!
A little cream cheese frosting...yum...yum!
The hubby taste tested and approved..........

A great start to the New Year!
