When I saw this quilt in the summer issue of "Primitive Quilts and Projects" magazine I knew that I had to make it! My sewing table was full of scraps and I could see all the great spools that they would make. The background is a primitive tea stained fabric that I have at the shop and I love using it. The applique pieces are wool that are hand stitched with pearl cotton and floss. The quilt in the magazine has a saying stitched around the spools, but I decided not to put it on mine. So get busy, rummage thru your fabric stash and make this whimsical quilt. Wouldn't it look great in your sewing room or draped over an old sewing machine!!
AND....Dont forget that my quilt project " SWEET PICKINS" is coming out in the Fall issue of " Primitive Quilts & Projects" magazine.
Happy Memorial Day!
Finished stitching the binding on the runner that you see across the bench. Spent part of the day planting flowers, washing curtains and grilling food...it was a busy day! The quilt block that you see in the background is a block from a new project that I am working on...it should be done soon. It seems like I have been in a red, white and blue mood lately.
We just received the new pattern "Little Red Schoolhouse" by Pam Buda and I couldn't wait to get started making a sample for the shop. Pam used the fabric from " Cotton Club" and because we have the fabric from our BOM program I used this in my quilt too. OOPS!!! I realized after photo was taken that I made an oops.. on one of the houses!!
Not to worry ..the house has been re-built and is ready for assembly. Little Red Schoolhouse kits will be ready soon.
